Frequently Asked Questions

You're not alone! Chances are someone has asked the very same question that you're thinking of right now. Look through our FAQs and see if we've answered your question. If not, you can always send your inquiries to info@wexer.com . Every question you ask helps us to develop more comprehensive content and added user-friendliness to your Wexer experience. We appreciate your help!

The issue you are having is most likely related to one of two issues: 1) The speed on your internet connection, and/or the available memory (RAM) on your computer. But there is a temporary solution...

With instant-access type videos, downloading (known as buffering) is happening while you watch them play.  Typically the speed of a broadband or satellite internet connection allows you to download the video faster than it plays which means that it will run smoothly. However, if your internet connection is slower than the video plays it will catch-up to the buffer resulting in the picture freezing periodically. While it is frozen a new bit of the video is buffered and then played. This will repeat itself over and over again.

To resolve this issue and improve viewing quality of any video, you can either try upgrading your internet connection, or upgrading your RAM.  The simple solution would be to pause the video immediately after it starts playing.  This will allow it to buffer a bigger piece of the video - if not the entire thing - before you start watching.  You might have noticed that there are two indicator lines below the video - one that shows how much you have seen and one that shows how much you have buffered.  Once the buffered indiciator has moved all the way to the right you know that the entire video has been temporarily "downloaded" to your computer.

Keep in mind that navigating away from the page will start this process all over again.  Therefore if you plan to have a seamless workout and you're experiencing buffering problems, we suggest to start the video, hit pause, make a phone call or play with the dog and come back to an interruption free workout!

Kick vs. Block

If you are an administrator of a group you may have noticed some links on the top right of the groups main page.  Here you will find two links, "Kick members" AND "Block members".  Here's the difference between the two:

Kick members results in the selected member(s) being kicked out of the group.  However, these members can rejoin at any time.  This is useful if you have members that are no longer active in the group or a current group member asks to be removed from a group.  This is not permanent and the kicked member can rejoin at any time.

Block members is similar, but it prevents the member from being able to ever rejoin or even see your group in group listings.  If someone in your group was making inappropriate comments or is proving to be detrimental to the group environment, you as the group admin have the ability to keep your group a happy, friendly place.

Although it is never our wish to see anyone go, we understand the need to protect your privacy should you decide that you no longer wish to use the site. In doing so it is important that any personal data that you contributed to the site is completely eliminated.  In order to ensure that this happens, our system administrators are in charge of deleting the profiles of individual users should they request us to do so.

At this time our system admins are the only individuals with this access.  This is a temporary solution that we feel is safer than the alternative- having remnant personal data hanging out in cyber space.  As soon as we find a solution that we feel is safe and secure our users will be able to delete their profile information themselves.  When that happens you'll be the first to know!

In the meantime, it's very simple to request that your profile be deleted from the site.  Simply send an email to info@wexer.com with "DELETE MY ACCOUNT" in the subject line including your user name and/or user id in the body of the email. Please allow 2 weeks for our system admins to delete your profile.  You will receive a confirmation email notifying you that your account has been permanently deleted from the database as well as an opportunity to fill out a survey indicating why you chose to terminate your membership.

Thank you for your understanding in this matter- we're working on a solution that we feel is best for the safety and security of all our members.

If you find that you are receiving more reminder emails than your inbox can handle or perhaps you want to receive reminders for certain activities but not others, here's what you need to do:

  1. Select the "COMMUNITY" tab at the very top of any page.
  2. In the secondary navigation bar (the one directly below), select the "PROFILE" tab.
  3. Scroll down below "MY ACCOUNT" and select the "PRIVACY" tab
  4. You will find all of your personal privacy settings in the left hand column.  The selections in the bottom half of the column pertain to the email reminders and user notifications that automatically get sent to your account.  Change them to suit your exact needs.

PLEASE NOTE: If you no longer wish to receive the regular newsletter, you may opt-out by using the unsubscribe link found at the bottom of the newsletter.  If you get a message telling you that you do not have access to that particular page, try logging into the site first, then hit unsubscribe.

Having a completed profile makes it easier to find similar friends and better exercise recommendations.

Under the "COMMUNITY" tab, take a look at your "PROFILE" tab.  Mouse over the red link that says "65% Completed" -or whatever % is showing for you.   You will see a pop-up checklist that highlights what areas of your profile still need completing.  Your self-assessment is weighted the heaviest- so be sure to do that one first. But really, it's quite easy to get to 100% once you take a look at what is remaining on your personal list.

  1. Select your profile, select the edit tab, select "change picture"
  2. After selecting a picture from your photo library, choose the upload button
  3. Once upload is completed, you should see your image under a short description: "Make a selection on the below image to define the crop area."  To do this, hover your mouse over the image, it should turn into a cross-hair (+ symbol)
  4. Now click and drag starting somewhere in the top-left corner of the image.  Drag out until you can no longer drag.
  5. Release the mouse.  You should see a square within your picture and your cursor has turned into the hand icon.
  6. You may click on that square to center it over the part of your picture that you wish to show for your profile picture
  7. Once you've finished centering select the "continue" button

You should now see your profile picture (also known as an avatar) shrunk down to size- now all your friends can see you!

Still having troubles?  There is a known error with some individuals using Internet Explorer 8.  Try using an earlier version of Explorer or Mozille Firefox.  For Mac users, safari works well.

The best exercise to do is whatever exercise you enjoy. Most people like variety and will run one day and play basketball the next day. Find an activity that you enjoy and stick with it.

The best time to work out is, again, whatever time of day you like. Some people are morning people and they usually have no problem with going to the gym at 0600, others like to workout at night. What time of day you workout isn't important, what's important is how you're working out and if you're getting enough nutrients and rest.

Generally if the sickness is above the neck, it's alright to exercise (sinus, headache, sore throat, etc). Just take it easy and respect others who aren't sick by wiping off any shared equipment and by washing your hands frequently. It might also be a good time to take a few days off to let your body recuperate, getting sick can sometimes be a sign of overtraining.

If you forget your password then simply click the 'forgotten password' button. You will then be prompted to enter your email address with which you registered. Once you have entered your email address click on the submit button and an email will be sent to you including a link for your temporary login.  This will allow you one time access to the site and expires within 24 hours if not used.  Clicking the link will redirect you to your profile, where you will be asked to create a new password.

The word “aerobic” means “with oxygen.” This kind of energy production occurs when there is enough available oxygen to assist in the production of energy. You will many times hear the term aerobic exercise and cardiovascular exercise used interchangeably. Aerobic or cardiovascular exercise is exercise that uses large muscle groups and maintains your target heart rate for a designated period of time. It is sustained continuous exercise and is generally over a period time.

Many people hear the word “aerobic” and only think of aerobic dance. Examples of aerobic or cardiovascular exercise include cycling, brisk walking, running, swimming, cross country skiing, rowing, in-line skating, elliptical training, cardio-based classes (hi-low, kick-box, step) and stair stepping. You have many selections of aerobic type exercise classes on Wexer in 15, 30, and 45 minutes choices.

The surgeon general recommends including physical activity to maintain and improve health and your weight, for 30 minutes or more of moderate-intensity physical activity on all, or most, days of the week.  Most recent studies have proven, as has the surgeon general that total time exercising is more important than whether it is consecutive in nature.  Therefore, if you only have 15 minutes to exercise in the morning and 15 minutes to exercise after work, that would still equal 30 minutes of total exercise for the day and would help you to achieve health benefits.

We're fliming new workouts all the time.  This gives us the ability to release new Wexer exercise videos each quarter.  You can see and search through the video releases by quarter:  Q1,Q2,Q3... and so on.
